First of all, the mobile data service in Manipur has been restored. Due to the narco-sponsored Kuki-Chin militant-sponsored violence towards Meitei, the mobile internet service was clamped to avoid spreading hate and fake news.
With the restoration of mobile internet services, I have been seeing many updates regarding Manipuri content creators and Instagram reel creators.
1. The first set of updates is: don't put reels of thun nikpa on Instagram while ereipak is at war against narco-terrorists.
This is a very valid point, and your group is suffering, and obviously, you don't need to overtly be very eager to show not-so-family-friendly dancing reels just for a few views.
2. Second set of updates are: Noina comedy tou leire somda mina wara kansida.
This part, you have to be very measured to issue such statements. Not everyone is made to pick up and go in frontline but everyone is ready to help in whatever capacity they have.
Creating comedy content might be one. I have seen many comedy sketches depicting the current scenario but in a funny way. You should encourage them.
3. Third set of comments: YouTuber mayam, content creator mayam chaba thakpei video, koibei thagatna leire leiba erang marakta.
Again same, nowadays, many of their contents are oriented to the current violence.
4. Fourth set of comments: those whose houses were burned down by #Kuki terrorists won't even bother about the restoration of the internet and why are you getting happy?
Even though this is very emotional, you can't ask to stop one's livelihood because others' livelihood is destroyed. Let me explain this better in the next few paragraphs.
All of the above comments are linked to one factor and let's discuss this and understand it properly. It's the money.
Why you should support all content creators unless very explicit.
All content creators get paid when you watch their video and ads are shown to you and you watch the ad. Without you watching the ads on their videos, they will get zero.
So, how will they help when they are the ones getting paid when others are suffering?
This is a compounding effect both on creating content and not creating content. Let's discuss and understand this clearly in each case.
Not creating content because war is there.
Not creating content means the creators will have no income and have to rely on others and the government.
Now, the government has double responsibility- displaced people and this new set of content creators without content and hence income.
2. Creating content even though war.
Creating content and supporting them means they are getting paid. This means they are no longer dependent on the government for their livelihood. This means government welfare can be more dedicated to displaced people.
Meitei society, in general, is really willing to donate whatever they can. Now, creators without any income can't donate anything even if they want to. If they have income, they can donate and even gather their followers to raise funds.
All money is from outside Manipur and is extra income for Manipur
The ads you are watching are from advertisers all over the world, and I believe not one of them is from Manipur. This means all income is incoming from outside Manipur. This is different from exchanging between a seller and buyer in Khwairamband Bazar. That is money generated inside Manipur. But the money paid to content creators is money pumping into Manipur.
More money to content creators means more money for them to spend in Manipur directly helping the economy of Manipur
If digital content creators are getting paid more money, they have more money to spend in the market. This will help the distressed Manipur economy and keep it afloat. A content creator with a full pocket will have more chicken dinners than an empty pocket one. This means those selling chickens and maroi mapang sellers are also being helped. Their business is growing due to such spending.
I will finish this with one line:
Let the content creators create, earn, and support them, and let them help those suffering due to the current narco-terrorists Kuki sponsored Manipur violence.
