The Editors Guilt of India admitted that their one-sided flopped report about the Manipur violence was not voluntary but was at the request (invitation) of the Indian Army's Spear Corps. Indian Army might have hoped for a really good error-free report on Manipur violence and to recover some of the image it lost due to relentless accusation and counter-accusation against it.
However, by now, everyone knows that the report is full of errors on every page and is completely one-sided. With the recent admission, this puts the Indian army in a tougher position than its initial purpose. EGI basically threw the army inside the ring and ran away to save their own image.
The cover picture of the EGI report is enough to know which direction the report is going. It shows the wall of hate and violence of Kuki-Chin people but no mention of Meitei's suffering.
Under intense scrutiny and rebuttal from all corners of the Nation, including many national media and Manipur's Editors Guild of Manipur and All Manipur Working Journalists Union, the EGI is in a very tough spot.
This was again multiplied after more than one FIR was slapped on the Editors Guilt of India. EGI finally decided to use the sanctity of the Army card, and to gain sympathy, it told the Honorable Supreme Court of India that it was the Army that invited EGI to conduct a fact-finding mission. But it was a fake collection mission.
What's more concerning is the use of the Indian army as a shield for its flopped report and again putting the most respected Indian army in the spotlight.
I sincerely think the Indian army was inviting EGI with good intentions that some of the clouds over its head would be cleared once EGI published the report, but the opposite happened.
I request all to stop using the Indian army as their political shield and points. And I also request the Indian army to stop calling partisan organizations for objective investigations. Indian army should dip their hands in these muddy waters with dirty political motivations.
